The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer Return with 'Apocalipstick' LP

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Feb 2, 2017

Three years removed from making A Real Fine Mess, Vancouver duo the Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer have lifted the curtain on the details behind a new LP. Titled Apocalipstick, the band's new record will arrive in March.

Running 13 tracks in length, Apocalipstick is said to have come together from "the desire for companionship, the endless pursuit of tone, the strength and glue of family and, above all, the love and admiration for each other's skills." The album's announcement comes alongside the duo sharing opening track "Get Ready," which sees soulful singers deliver words of warning in line with life's "uncertain times."

"Matt's brother Ben Rogers first sang 'Get Ready' to us by the piano in the basement of my home," Shawn "the Harpoonist" Hall said in a statement. "It was instantly familiar to us and embodied this loose campfire like group vocal thing which carried right into the sessions with the girls. I think the beauty of this song is the impression of hopefulness it leaves you with while layered in a bed of chaos."

Apocalipstick will arrive March 24, with the duo heading out on tour in spring across Canada with support from Monkey Junk, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Ryan McNally, and Leeroy Stagger. A full itinerary, along with the record's tracklist, can be found below.
