'The Handmaid's Tale' Cast Members Have Plenty of Ideas for a Drake Cameo
Last year, Margaret Atwood revealed that she would be down with a Drake cameo in an upcoming season of The Handmaid's Tale, and it turns out the show's cast members totally agree.
Speaking to Vulture at Paley Fest in L.A. over the weekend, a number of the show's stars pitched their own ideas for how Drizzy could be worked into the world of Gilead.
"Who would he play? Maybe Offred's third baby daddy," Samira Wiley said. "They would [make cute babies]!"
She also seemed open to Drake playing up his own Canadian-ness, especially now that her character Moira has escaped north of the border. "That would be crazy," she added. "He's like … Canada."
O.T. Fagbenle plays Luke (the husband to Elisabeth Moss's Offred) on the show, and he had different plans for utilizing Drake's Degrassi-tested acting chops.
"My wife has been shared enough, thank you very much," he said, dismissing Wiley's idea. "He's gonna play my brother, what are you talking about?! Isn't that obvious? Luke's brother, the singer, comes into Toronto. I mean, it writes itself."
Madeline Brewer (who plays Janine), meanwhile, suggested that Drake be used as her character's own forbidden love interest — perhaps as an authority figure like an Eye or a Commander. "I mean, Janine's always trying to run away with somebody, why not Drake?" she said. "Why not?!"
So far, there's been no confirmation that Drake will actually appear in any of the upcoming episodes, but regardless, there will be plenty of action for fans to take in when the second season of The Handmaid's Tale arrives on April 25.
