The Grammys Snubbed A Tribe Called Quest's Album, and Q-Tip Is Pissed

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Nov 28, 2017

The list of nominees for the 60th Grammy Awards was revealed today (November 28), dominated by work from JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Bruno Mars and SZA. One particularly notable effort left off the list was A Tribe Called Quest's We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, and group leader Q-Tip has taken to social media to blast the awards over the snub.

After declaring "fuck da grammys!!!" on Twitter, Tip uploaded three separate videos to Instagram elaborating on his feelings. "We were the most black, cultured group out," he said to the camera. "That's all we stood on. That's what we represented. This last Tribe album. This stands with everyone else's shit that's up there. I don't give a fuck."

He continued: "Respect to everybody who's nominated and all that, but whatever, I'm speaking for mine. I'm sick of y'all fuckin Grammy n***as man. Y'all fuckin'... get us to get out there and fuckin' perform last year and close the shit and y'all don't get us no fuckin' nominations?... For that album?! For THAT album?! Tired of fuckin' bitin' my tongue all the time and tryna be nice and shit."

A Tribe Called Quest's performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards ceremonies was a definite highlight of the event. You can find it alongside Q-Tip's rant in the players below. We gave We Got It from Here... a 9/10 score upon its release last year.
