The Flaming Lips took a trip down memory lane last year, celebrating 20 years of Clouds Taste Metallic with a deluxe box set, but now they're paying homage to the career of one of music's most influential men. The band paid their respects to the late David Bowie with a cover of "Space Oddity" earlier this year, and now their take on the track has been paired with a new video.
The clip was shot at Crestwood Vineyard Church in the group's hometown of Oklahoma City, and it's as wonderfully weird as one would expect a video for a Bowie cover by the Flaming Lips to be.
The visuals are as psyched-out as the song itself, featuring lots of colourful lighting effects, a church filled with balloons and a couple of grieving nouns that test out some less-than-holy coping techniques.
