The Breeders Return with New Single "Wait in the Car"

The Breeders hinted at new material last week, teasing a brief snippet of music. Well, they've just lifted the veil on the short teaser and unleashed a brand new single called "Wait in the Car."

The track marks the first new music from the Kim Deal-fronted band in eight years. They released an EP titled Fate to Fatal in 2009, though the band's last full-length record arrived as Mountain Battles in 2008.

"Wait in the Car" also signals a return to the group's original lineup, reuniting sisters Kim and Kelley Deal with Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson in the studio. The initially reteamed in 2013 for a string of reunion shows toasting the 20th anniversary of Last Splash.

The new tune will be released as part of an upcoming series of 7-inch singles via 4AD, each limited to 1,500 copies.

The first version will be pressed on orange vinyl with a cover of Amon Düül II's "Archangel's Thunderbird" and will available at the band's upcoming tour dates as of October 15, while a second version will be slapped on yellow wax with a cover of Devo's "Gates of Steel" and sold exclusively at select independent record stores starting October 27. A third version, pressed to red vinyl with Kim Deal's cover of "Joanne" by Mike Nesmith, will be announced later this year.
