The Age

'Inner Palace' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 11, 2016

Haligonian psych-rock crew the Age are gearing up to release their sophomore full-length Inner Palace next week, but Exclaim! is giving you a listen to the album in its entirety right now.

The latest LP was laid down in the band's hometown at Echo Chamber with producer Charles Austin. In order to successfully incorporate elements of psychedelia, garage and country, the band enlisted the help of guest musicians like Garrett Mason on guitar and lap steel, Scott Nicks on piano, James Shaw and Andrew McKelvie of Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound on saxophone and flute, and even the aforementioned Austin on harmonica.

From the surf-inspired opener "Three Wishes" to the self-explanatory "Rock & Roll" to the lullaby-esque "The Lantern" and finally on to the retro romance of "Heart of a King," Inner Palace is sure to take listeners on a trip.

Hop aboard early and give the album a listen below before it officially arrives on August 18. Until then, you can pre-order the album on CD and cassette here.
