The Lemonheads are keeping with their sunny '90s alt-rock vibe on new track "Deep End," released yesterday (May 14).
Since returning from a hiatus in 2005 to release their self-titled eighth studio album in 2006, the Boston-hailing rockers have limited their full-length releases to two cover albums in the years following. With "Deep End," fans now get a taste of what's to come on the band's newest album, Love Chant, arriving this fall. This will be the band's first time releasing an album of original material in 19 years.
Lemonheads frontman and only remaining original member, Evan Dando, reunited with longtime friend and collaborator Tom Morgan to write the song. The track also features Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis on guitar and Juliana Hatfield on backing vocals. On the B-side is Dando's more mellow cover of Townes Van Zandt's "Sad Cinderella."
The track arrived alongside Lemonheads' Australian tour kickoff, paired with a black-and-white music video filmed in São Paulo and directed by Luigi Parisi and Carlão Busato. Starring Dando, the video additionally features cameos from Mascis and Hatfield.
"Deep End" will be released on a limited 12-inch vinyl, available June 13. Watch the music video below.
