It's been nearly two decades since the Lemonheads released their self-titled 2006 studio album, their latest batch of original material. The band previously teased their return to recording with new single "Deep End," and now they've formally announced the forthcoming release of Love Chant, due out on October 24 through Fire Records, along with an international tour that will bring them to Canada this winter.
Today, they're continuing to preview their new era with "In the Margin," of which bandleader Evan Dando shared in a statement, "I wanted to have a riffy song, so I wrote riffs all over it. The body of the song was Marciana's (Marciana Jones). It's like a full-on 8th-grade girl revenge song: 'Stupidly I left the escape plans out so they could find my way.'"
The album further features collaborations with J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan, Erin Rae, John Strohm of the Blake Babies, Nick Saloman of the Bevis Frond, Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches and producer Bryce Goggin.
The Lemonheads will bring Love Chant on the road, from the UK to Europe and North America, starting this summer and continuing into late December. On November 30, they'll play a lone Canadian show at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre.
