The Beths are back! The New Zealand quartet, who released their excellent latest album, Expert in a Dying Field, in 2022, have announced their signing to ANTI- with a jangly new single called "Metal" — which they've shared alongside plans for a world tour, set to include a trio of Canadian dates in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal this fall.

"In some ways 'Metal' is a song about being alive and existing in a human body," vocalist Elizabeth Stokes explained in a release. "That is something I have been acutely aware of in the last few years, where I have been on what one might call a 'health journey.'"

She continued, "For parts of the last few years, I kind of felt like my body was a vehicle that had carried me pretty well thus far but was breaking down, something I had little to no control over. All of the steps in the Rube Goldberg machine of life are so unlikely, and yet here we are in it. I have a hunger and a curiosity for learning about the world around me, and for learning about myself. And despite all the ways that my body feels like a broken machine, I still marvel at the complexity of such a machine."

The band will kick off their tour overseas in September, with the North American leg set to begin on October 30 in Asheville, NC. They'll make their first venture to Canada about midway through the following month for a performance at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on November 16. Following veering back into the US for another string of shows there, the Beths return to Canadian soil to play Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on November 28 and Montreal's Beanfield Theatre on November 29, with Phoebe Rings supporting.

Tickets go on general sale Friday (May 2), with various presales beginning Wednesday (April 30) at 10 a.m. local time. Find the "Metal" music video and the band's full tour itinerary below, as well as more upcoming shows via Exclaim!'s Canadian concert listings.
