Terra Lightfoot Returns with 'New Mistakes'

Watch a video for album opener "Paradise" now

After delivering an orchestral live album earlier this year, Terra Lightfoot is striking out solo once more with a new full-length record this fall.

Titled New Mistakes, Lightfoot's latest will arrive through Sonic Unyon Records on October 13. The record runs 12 tracks in length and was produced by Gus van Go and Werner F.

A press release states the album is "as poignant as it is rollicking and vulnerable as it is rowdy." Lightfoot has also enlisted the help of E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons and Oliver Wood of the Wood Brothers for a pair of features.

The record's announcement comes alongside first single and album opener "Paradise," which has arrived via a video. Directed by Dustin Rabin (Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age), the clip finds Lightfoot and her band tearing through the song inside a rough-looking loft, leaving only them alone with the music.

"'Paradise' is about letting go of perfection in love," Lightfoot said of the track in a statement. "It's not wrestling with the problems and missteps in our relationships but embracing them. I think it's a more realistic way to look at love and it gives me some comfort to know I'm not standing there with rose-coloured glasses on."

Lightfoot will be touring Canada and the United States this fall, supporting Bruce Cockburn throughout September and Whitehorse throughout October and December. You can find further details here.
