Tegan and Sara Write 41 New Songs, Get Set to Record New Album This Month

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 2, 2012

Back in 2010, Tegan and Sara announced plans to release a DVD and take a break from music. Well, evidently that hiatus is now over, since the much-loved indie rock sisters are getting ready to enter the studio this month to record a new album.

In a blog post on the band's official website, Tegan Quin revealed that the duo have been busy writing. "Officially we just finished our 41st song," she wrote. "Don't worry, there will NOT be 41 songs on the record! PROMISE! And for those that wish they could hear all 41 songs, really? Ha. Even my mom set the limit at 25."

Whittling down 41 songs to a single album is bound to be tough, but Tegan went on to add, "We're nearly through the song selection process."

Soon, they will be committing the tunes to tape, with studio sessions beginning on February 20.

She added, "I have no idea how long it's going to take to finish or when it will come out, but we'll be updating you as we know things." So expect plenty of updates while they're in the studio.
