The duo's 10th album arrives October 21, and they'll be hitting the road this fall in support of it

After teasing it yesterday, Tegan and Sara have shared the video for their new single "Yellow," which is the first taste of their upcoming 10th studio album Crybaby. The record is arriving October 21 via Mom + Pop Music, and the duo will be heading out on tour with Tomberlin this fall to support it.

Produced by indie heavyweight John Congleton, Crybaby was recorded at Studio Litho in Seattle and Sargent Recorders in Los Angeles.

In a statement about the record, Tegan said:

This was the first time where, while we were still drafting our demos, we were thinking about how the songs were going to work together. It wasn't even just that Sara was making lyric changes or reorganizing the parts to my songs, it was that she was also saying to me, 'This song is going to be faster,' or 'It's going to be in a different key.' But Sara effectively improves everything of mine that she works on."

"Maybe I am the renovator," Sara added. "I'm the house-flipper of the Tegan and Sara band."

About "Yellow," Sara said the song was "written after we began to take steps to heal the bruises we have both carried with us since adolescence and early adulthood — wounds that never quite healed right and flare up seasonally, sending us spiralling backward in time. Are we doomed to remain forever 15, breaking up and breaking apart? I hope not."

It's also been announced that the duo's upcoming coming-of-age series High School — produced by the twins with Clea DuVall and based on their 2016 memoir of the same name — has just wrapped filming in Calgary.
