Online ticket reselling has become a major issue in the live music industry. And while some artists seem keen to benefit from reselling, sister duo Tegan and Sara have now spoken out against the practice.
In a series of tweets, the Quin sisters condemned ticket resellers, writing "just know you are total TRASH." They urged fans not to pay the huge markups for tickets to the duo's "Hey, I'm Just Like You Tour," promising to release last-minute tickets and add fans to the guest list when possible. They also added that they will be touring larger venues soon.
They added that reselling also drives down attendance at shows, in instances where ticket resellers buy up blocks of empty seats that could have gone to actual fans.

Tegan and Sara's "Hey, I'm Just Like You Tour" takes them across North America this fall, including a number of Canadian dates. The shows will largely feature acoustic sets, including lots of old tunes. Note that, due to demand, they have just added a second Toronto show.
The album Hey, I'm Just Like You arrives September 27 via Sire Records. Tegan and Sara's memoir High School will be out on September 24 via Simon & Schuster/MCD/Virago.
