Having spent a good chunk of 2008 criss-crossing across the globe, Montreal's Team Canada DJs have announced a series of dates in Canada, including a West coast tour with the fully recovered DJ AM, where they plan to up the sweat factor.
In California this weekend, the mash-up crew of Grandtheft and D.R.one will kick off their Canadian jaunt next Friday (January 23) performing at Red Bull's utterly insane Crashed Ice event, which consists of hockey dudes trying to take each others' heads off as they skate along what looks like a luge track at full speed. From there, they'll dip into Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal, before heading out west. Then after a couple East coast dates, they'll play the mysterious Coors Light Secret Mansion Party, which as the ads seem to suggest, are filled with fountains of beer and all sorts of drunken goodness. A perfect setting for Team Canada's high octane party tuneage.
According to their publicist, Team Canada have also been hard at work hammering out some new original material for a new record called Canadian Club Vol. 1, which will be "very different from the other releases - you won't hear a CD filled with mash-ups but a new, fresh Team Canada with lots more original beats and melodies." As well they've got a number of "truly amazing remixes" coming soon, including a club-going twist on Red Hot Chili Peppers "By the Way" by Grandtheft, which you can download here.
