Talib Kweli Teaming Up with 9th Wonder for New Collaborative Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 26, 2014

Talib Kweli has joined forces with other hip-hop figures for various joint projects over the years, from working with Mos Def as Black Star to his Reflection Eternal collaborations with Hi-Tek. The Brooklyn rapper has now announced another tag-team effort is on the way, this time pairing him with producer 9th Wonder.

The partnership has apparently already begun working on an LP, with Kweli having confirmed as much in an interview with San Francisco's 106 KMEL [via All Hip Hop]. Few details exist beyond that, but Kweli noted, "I don't know what the title of it is, but tentatively the crew name is B.A.D. (Build and Destroy) Gang."

It's unclear at present when the B.A.D. Gang, if that is indeed their name, will have their debut effort hit our ears, but the record will be Kweli's first full-length since last year's Gravitas. 9th Wonder's last solo album was 2012's Tutankhamen (Valley of the Kings), but he delivered the Where Do I Come From? collaboration with Explicit last year, and dropped his 9th Wonder Presents: Jamla Is the Squad mix in January.
