After releasing Gutter Rainbows in 2011, Talib Kweli hinted that he would be releasing a follow-up long-player called Prisoner of Conscious. Since then, there has been little said about the project, but now we can report that the album is due this summer.
While a press release did not confirm the previously revealed Seu Jorge collaboration, Prisoner of Conscious will include appearances from RZA, Busta Rhymes, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar and Melanie Fiona.
Prisoner of Conscious is said to have a summer release date tentatively planned via Blacksmith/EMI. The lead single "Distractions," which was produced by Oh No, has a music video that can be streamed below.
In addition to the new album, Talib has announced a small string of tour dates, including a stop at Toronto's Sound Academy on June 1.
Tour dates:
5/18 Providence, RI - Fete Music Ballroom
5/28 New York, NY - Le Poisson Rouge
5/30 Cleveland, OH - Grog Shop
5/31 Buffalo, NY - Town Ballroom
6/1 Toronto, ON - Sound Academy
6/2 Ann Arbor, MI - Blind Pig
6/3 Indianapolis, IN - The Vogue
