System of a Down Catalogue Treated to Vinyl Reissue Campaign

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Sep 13, 2018

While recent comments on System of a Down's status from Serj Tankian didn't bring listeners any closer to new material, fans of the group will be able to revisit the band's work on wax with a series of new vinyl reissues.

Multiple online listings point to all five of the band's studio albums arriving on wax October 12.

Listings from SRCVinyl point to 1998's self-titled album, 2001's Toxicity, and 2005's Mezmerize and Hypnotize being single-LP offerings, while 2002's Steal This Album! will arrive as a 2-LP set.

The reissue campaign marks the first time System of a Down's 1998 debut has been pressed to vinyl. Discogs shows that a number of unofficial coloured pressings of the album have been pressed up in the past.

The band's beloved Toxicity received an official release on vinyl through American Recordings upon its release in 2001. Copies currently fetch over $300 CAD on resale sites such as Discogs.

Steal This Album!Mezmerize and Hypnotize were all given vinyl releases as picture discs upon their respective releases.

System of a Down are currently slated to play six shows on the West Coast this October. You can find those dates here.
