Sunrise Records Reveals New Locations Across Canada

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 9, 2017

Last month, we learned that Sunrise Records would be taking over more than 70 HMV locations when the latter company shuts down its remaining stores in the coming weeks. Now, Ontario-based Sunrise has revealed exactly where some of its new shops will be popping up.

British Columbia buyers will be getting locations at Burnaby's Metrotown and Kelowna's Orchard Park, while Albertans will see Sunrises opening in Calgary (Sunridge Mall and Marlborough Mall), Edmonton (Londonderry Mall and West Edmonton Mall, the latter complete with a 20,000 square foot performance stage), Fort McMurray (Peter Pond Mall), Lethbridge (Park Place Mall) and Medicine Hat (Medicine Hat Mall).

Moving east across the prairies, Saskatchewan will be getting a store at Regina's Southland Mall, while Manitoba will be getting two Winnipeg locations at Kildonan Place and Polo Park.

Nine Ontario stores have been confirmed, with stops set to open in Belleville (Quinte Mall), Guelph (Stone Road Mall), Hamilton (Limeridge Mall), Mississauga (Square One), Ottawa (Place d'Orléans), Owen Sound (Heritage Place Mall), Pickering (Pickering Town Centre), Sault Ste. Marie (Station Mall) and St. Catharines (the Pen Centre).

As for Quebec, there will be Sunrises in Hull (Les Galeries de Hull), Quebec City (Place Fleur de Lys), Saint Bruno (Promenades St-Bruno), Saguenay (Place de Royaume), Trois-Rivieres (Centre commercial Les Rivieres) and Victoriaville (Le Grande place des Bois-Francs).

Last for now, but certainly not least, the chain will be moving into New Brunswick with a Saint John shop at McAllister Place and a Fredericton location at Regent Mall.

More locations are expected to be announced on March 20, and you can keep an eye on the Sunrise website for official confirmations.

As previously reported, the new locations will start opening early next month.
