Former Barenaked Ladies bandleader and national treasure Steven Page is about to join a new band — er, ensemble.

The singer-songwriter will perform back-to-back concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre this March 12 and 13, digging out beloved hits from the BNL discography as well as his more recent solo catalogue.

Though Page first got the call to perform with the ensemble prior to the pandemic, these performances were originally scheduled to take place late last year. He ended up joining the orchestra to record a six-song mini-concert in front of an audience of 50 people, which you can watch below via the VSO YouTube channel. Now he'll finally get to play to a full audience.

"I've done a few orchestra shows," Page told the Georgia Straight, "but to do it with the VSO is pretty awesome. Just even the few songs we got to do last time shows what a quality organization they are."

The Canadian Music Hall of Famer went on to reveal some hints at the setlist, including "Call and Answer," "Brian Wilson," "The Old Apartment" and "Jane," adding that certain BNL songs work particularly well with the symphonic treatment.

Tickets for both nights of the "Steven Page with the VSO" double-header are available here.
