Steve Lillywhite Says He Was the First Person to Have Sex to Dave Matthews Band's "Crash into Me"

But not the last

Dave Matthews Band's 1996 hit "Crash into Me" is surely one of the horniest ballads of its era, thanks to its hypnotically droning acoustic chords and sexy but creepy lyrics like "Hike up your skirt a little more / And show the world to me." And while many people have no doubt got down while listening to the song over the years, famed producer (and KFC curator) Steve Lillywhite says he was the first.

This raunchy little detail comes from The Ringer's new deep dive into DMB's Crash for the album's 25th anniversary. Reporter Katie Baker spoke with several people involved with Crash's creation, including Lillywhite, who produced the album.

The story goes like this:

Of all the "Crash into Me" memories, though, perhaps the most historically relevant is the one belonging to the album's producer, Steve Lillywhite, who tells me in a phone conversation from Bali that he was, technically speaking, the first man to bone a gal while a recording of "Crash into Me" played in the background, though certainly not the last.

We, unfortunately, don't get any more details than that, but presumably the implication is that Lillywhite put on an early mix of the song to soundtrack a lovemaking sesh.

Listen to "Crash into Me" below and, if you choose to have sex while doing so, don't tell us about it ya sickos.
