Stars Announce Canadian Tour, Let Fans Pick the Set Lists

For bands that are several albums into their career, picking a live set list can be tough. After all, artists need to promote their newest material, meaning that they may only have time to play a handful of older cuts. Canadian indie pop favourites Stars are looking to avoid this sticky situation by letting fans choose the set list on their newly announced Canadian tour.

In May, they will play seven dates promoting their upcoming album, The Five Ghosts, due out June 22 via their Soft Revolution Records. In addition to performing the new album in its entirety, the band will be playing a selection of back catalogue cuts as chosen by the audience.

Although the tour will take place over a month before The Five Ghosts officially drops, the outfit will be giving fans a chance to purchase pre-release copies at the shows. They'll also be offering a limited-edition version of the record, which includes a lyric book with photos and written pieces from the band members, as well as a download card.

A press release reveals that, in addition to the usual vinyl and digital formats, Stars will issue The Five Ghosts with "remixes and fan collectables in various packages." Full release details will be available soon. Interestingly, the press release says nothing about a CD version.

Lead single "Fixed" is due online onApril 20 and is reportedly "a gorgeous, synth-driven, quintessentially classic Stars track," with Amy Millan on lead vocals. Until then, go to the band's homepage to see two webisodes about the making of the album.
