Over the weekend, David Byrne brought his Contemporary Color show to Brooklyn's Barclays Center, pairing rifle-twirling, flag-waving colour guard routines with musical performances. One of the musical acts was St. Vincent, and she played a new tune called "Everyone You Know Will Go Away."
The song is a dreamy number that highlights St. Vincent mastermind Annie Clark's voice at its sweetest while accompanied by mellow, toe-tapping rhythms and orchestral pop textures. It's calming and more unabashedly beautiful than much of the noisy art-rock she has made in recent years.
