SSS

SSS

Crossover is getting out of hand. Less than a couple of years ago, sounding like Join The Army-era Suicidal Tendencies or, well, anything even remotely resembling D.R.I. would have meant a certain death accelerated by endless jokes at the band’s expense. However, it’s currently at the apex of a revival, as this particular uniting of heavy metal’s prowess with hardcore’s thunder clearly proves. Factoring in a touch of Cryptic Slaughter, circa Convicted, SSS’s eponymous release leans more towards modern hardcore than the leather and denim counterpart but the overall brazenness and provoking essence survives. Lauded as the less amused yet equally amusing counterparts to the thrash-y Municipal Waste, SSS don’t quite have the same attention grabbing force but their ballistic thrust is still imposing. Not bad for a band formed after Dave Lombardo came back into the Slayer camp for the third time.
