As the Spirit Halloween banners come down, Christmas tracks begin to roll out by the dozen — and Spoon is leading the charge. The Austin indie rockers have shared their spin on the Beatles' 1967 fan club single "Christmas Time (Is Here Again)" for Spotify Singles: Holiday Edition 2021.
In a statement, frontman Britt Daniel described the recording process as a possession by the Christmas spirit.
"Recording 'Christmas Time (Is Here Again)' was a group effort that pulled us away from rehearsals and quickly sent us down a turbulent path of what you might call the Christmas spirit," Daniel stated. "And it's our song with the most band members doing vocals ever — pretty sure I'm counting four. THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS IS OVER."
Spoon's infectious holiday cheer is sure to inspire us to dive into all the tinsel and lights of the season. Besides the holidays, the band's upcoming album, Lucifer on the Sofa, leaves something to look forward to in the new year. Their 10th record will release on February 11, 2022.
