Get ready to step back into the Superunknown, as Seattle alt-rock vets Soundgarden are celebrating their 1994 album with a deluxe anniversary release.
A five-disc "Super Deluxe Edition" will be delivered June 3 through A&M Records/UME, with the package containing a remastered version of the platter, a Blu-ray disc of the set mixed in 5.1 surround and a host of other goodies. This includes a disc of B-sides, live takes and rehearsal tracks, as well as separate discs of previously unreleased early demos and jam space rehearsals.
That's a lot of "Spoonman" and "Black Hole Sun" to sample, but you can check out all of the tracklisting info down below. There, you'll also find a rehearsal stream of "The Day I Tried to Live," which has Chris Cornell explaining to the rest of the band how the now-familiar tune goes.
The package will also include reimagined album artwork by Josh Graham (see above) and a hardbound book with a lenticular cover, never-before-seen period-specific photos of the band and liner notes from Rolling Stone's David Fricke.
The anniversary set is also receiving a truncated two-disc "Deluxe Edition" release, as well as a double-LP release, and you can find the alternate running order below.
Ahead of the anniversary set, Soundgarden will deliver a set of five 10-inches supporting album singles "Spoonman," "Fell on Black Days," "Black Hole Sun," "The Day I Tried to Live" and "My Wave." Due out as part of Record Store Day (April 19), the records will also feature B-sides found on the anniversary set of Superunknown. The "Fell on Black Days" 10-inch adds a gloomy cover of Devo's "Girl U Want." You'll find the info on those releases down below as well.
