Jay Arner

On his sophomore LP Jay II, Jay Arner poured indie-rock guitar hooks, Krautrock grooves and wry lyrics into the same rich stew; the result was one of the breakout records of the year. Celebrate the Vancouver singer-songwriter's arrival at one of the dates below.

07/14/2016 Edmonton, AB – The Almanac
07/16/2016 Winnipeg, MB – The Handsome Daughter
07/17/2016 Thunder Bay, ON – The Apollo
07/18/2016 Sault Ste. Marie – Gore Street Cafe
07/20/2016 Toronto, ON – The Piston

Halifax Jazz Festival

Montreal and Toronto's illustrious jazz fests have come and gone, but the Halifax Jazz Festival is every bit as potent when it comes to providing powerful grooves and chops by the bowlful. This year's lineup features soul sovereign Lauryn Hill, piano virtuoso Oliver Jones and disco originators Chic.

07/12-17/2016 Halifax, NS – Multiple Venues

Jessy Lanza

Jessy Lanza may have used anxiety to her advantage on her sophomore album Oh No, but the Ontario electro-R&B songstress's sound is anything but cause for concern. Lanza's mixture of slick electronics and airy, soulful vocals is a scintillating combination that should bring some midsummer fireworks to Montreal and Toronto this week. If you're around, check her out at one of the dates below.

07/14/2016 Montreal, QC – La Sala Rossa
07/15/2016 Toronto, ON – Lee's Palace

Marissa Nadler

Marissa Nadler turned heads in a major way this year with Strangers, a cloudburst of a folk record that leaned heavily on lush arrangements and Nadler's powerhouse vocal swoons. If dreamy, haunting folk with a sinister touch is your thing, check her out at one of the dates below.

07/14/2016 Toronto, ON – The Drake Hotel
07/15/2016 Montreal, QC – La Sala Rossa

Pemberton Music Festival

Pemberton Music Festival returns to scenic Pemberton, BC this weekend with enough star power to light up the West Coast. Powering this year's festivities are grunge godfathers Pearl Jam, rap doggfather Snoop Dogg, experimental pop chanteuse FKA twigs and many more. It looks like there should be great things going down in the shadow of Mount Currie once again.

07/14-17/2016 Pemberton, BC – Pemberton Valley

River and Sky Music Festival

Northern Ontario's premier music festival is back again to offer three days of music, art and, well, river and sky. Adding to the great outdoors are Montreal art-rockers Ought, East Coast orchestral indie-rock collective Hey Rosetta! and folk darling Basia Bulat. With talent this enticing, a road trip might be in order.

07/14-17/2016 Field, ON – Fishers' Paradise

Slipknot

Slipknot return to Canada this week for a double-barrel blast of pounding drums, bone-crushing guitars and menacing vocals. Though singer Corey Taylor's not allowed to headbang, that doesn't mean you can't mash out hard enough for the both of you.

07/19/2016 Toronto, ON – Air Canada Centre
07/20/2016 Montreal, QC – Bell Centre

Wild Mountain Music Festival

Alberta's Wild Mountain Music touches down in the Rockies this week for mountains beyond mountains of gorgeous summer jams. Bringing the noise this year are indie-folk veteran Dan Mangan, singer-songwriter Serena Ryder and Canadian treasure and reigning Polaris champ Buffy Sainte-Marie. If you're looking for beautiful vistas and stellar homegrown talent, there's no better festival.

07/15-17/2016 Hinton, AB – Entrance Ranch
