Skeletonwitch Announce 'Serpents Unleashed,' Map Out North American Tour with the Black Dahlia Murder

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 14, 2013

Ohio thrash vets Skeletonwitch are ready to rip us a new one via the fall release of their next album, Serpents Unleashed. The band's fifth full-length effort slithers into stores October 29 through longtime label Prosthetic Records.

As previously reported, the outfit recorded the follow-up to Forever Abomination earlier this year with studio guru Kurt Ballou (Converge, Kvelertak, Baptists) at his GodCity Studio in Salem, MA, and a press release notes that the 11-song record delivers "blasts of abominable, frosty fire."

This includes scorching new tune "Burned from Bone," which you can download by texting SERPENTS to 24587. You can also check out a behind-the-scenes studio performance of the track in the video down below.

The snakes, sheep and skull-topped statue that figure on the album art were whipped up by Baroness's John Baizley, who had last supplied the band with the cover for 2007's Beyond the Permafrost.

Serpents Unleashed is being issued digitally, as well as on CD, cassette, LP and as a limited-edition 7-inch box set. You can pre-order your preferred medium over here.

In support of the new album, Skeletonwitch have already booked a lengthy North American tour, which finds them opening for headliners the Black Dahlia Murder. Also on the bill are Fallujah, as well as Noisem and Wolvhammer on select dates. You can see the entire schedule, which includes several Canadian dates, below the Serpents Unleashed tracklist.

Also of note is that Beyond the Permafrost is receiving a vinyl pressing after being out of print for a few years. This latest edition is expected to hit stores September 2, with 300 arriving on black wax and another 200 on clear vinyl. You can pre-order it here.
