Sister Sin

Switchblade Serenades

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jan 20, 2009

Kicking around Gothenburg, Sweden since 2002, it is finally time for North America to understand the vicious, uncompromising brutality of Sister Sin via latest effort Switchblade Serenades. With one hand dipping heavily into Motörhead's uncomplicated delivery and amplified rock'n'roll and the other firmly gripping the aesthetics and attitude originated by acts such as W.A.S.P. and Mötley Crüe, minus the smarminess, Sister Sin are a chugging, beastly force to be reckoned with. Angry yet refined enough to maintain composure, Switchblade Serenades snaps more than it unwinds, coming across as some sort of punk rock'n'roll band gone horribly wrong - Hellacopters-meets-Silver intensified and distilled into pure sleaze. If such a thing can be further refined, that is.
