Silversun Pickups Return with 'Neck of the Woods' LP

If you've been following Silversun Pickups' recent updates then you already know that the Los Angeles alt-rockers have been working on their third full-length. Now, they've officially announced the follow-up to 2009's Swoon. Entitled Neck of the Woods, it's due out on May 8.

The disc was produced by big-name studio genius Jacknife Lee (R.E.M., Weezer), who the band met while recording vocals for a Snow Patrol track. Silversun Pickups frontman Brian Aubert told Spin that the new songs sound "like a horror movie," and that the writing process began during a European vacation.

He further explained, "Swoon was more about what I was feeling at that particular time, whereas with this one, I wanted to see what built me. It was learning why I am the way I am."

This sense of self-discovery was intensified by the fact that Jacknife's home studio was coincidentally located in California's Topanga Canyon, just a few minutes from where Aubert grew up. "I just realized this place and the feelings I had are still ingrained in me," he said.

Stay tuned for the first single from Neck of the Woods. Dangerbird Records previously confirmed that it would be releasing the record.
