Sigur Rós to Release 'Valtari' LP This Spring, Share New Track
Aside from their Inni live film/album and frontman Jónsi's solo album and film work, little has been heard about a new studio LP from Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós. That will change this spring, however, as the group are rumoured to be dropping a brand new album in May.

According to Q Magazine [via the band's message board/Consequence of Sound], the new album is called Valtari and is expected for release on May 28 in the UK and May 29 in North America.

As reported late last year, the band explained that the album would be "ambient," "introverted," "floaty" and "minimal." In a new interview with Q, bassist Georg Hólm explained that the album lives up to its title, which translates to "steamroller" in English.

"The music just kind of rolls over you. In a good way," he said.

Jónsi added that "there's more electric stuff than before... but don't worry, we haven't made a dance record." According to him, there will be no English lyrics.

While we await confirmation for Valtari's North American release date, seven of the album's tracks are listed below, along with a batch of confirmed tour dates.

UPDATE: You can hear the new Valtari track "Ekki Mukk" below.
