Published Jun 25, 2010When long-running L.A. post-punks the Mae Shi called it quits late last year, three members went on to form the equally interesting, synth-heavy group Signals. The band have slowly built up a repertoire with U.S. touring, a stint at SXSW and a single for UK label Moshi Moshi. Now, Signals have kicked it up a notch with a Canada-heavy tour, a new mixtape and news of a debut album.
This summer, the band will embark on another North American tour. Along with various dates in the United States, Signals will make their Canadian debut with three performances at Sled Island, as well as shows in Edmonton and Vancouver. All dates are available below.
While the world awaits more Signals recordings, drummer Jacob Cooper recently dropped the Pizza the Hut Mixtape, a ridiculously diverse collection of edits and remixes that includes everyone from Converge and Atari Teenage Riot to the Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin and Spank Rock. It plays as one long track, but we've included a list of songs below. The mix can be downloaded or streamed here.
Finally, Signals have recently finished recording their debut album with former Mae Shi band-mate Brad Breeck. The album is expected in early 2011. A music video for their single "What Dreams" can be viewed below.
