Shuggie Otis Unearths "Lost Album" in Expanded Reissue of 'Inspiration Information,' Rolls Out North American Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 14, 2012

Shuggie Otis hasn't kept up a steady output since emerging in the early '70s, but the songwriter is getting ready to revisit his heyday with a reissue of 1974's classic Inspiration Information that includes a heap of bonus material. Around the time of its re-release in 2013, Otis will also hit the road in North America.

Inspiration Information, the title track of which charted as a single, was previously reissued by David Byrne's Luaka Bop label in 2001. Brooklyn Vegan notes that this latest version will come out in spring through Epic Records/Legacy Recordings, and it will be fleshed out with four bonus tracks (presumably the same four included on the Luaka Bop version).

However, the real selling point here is that the album will be packaged together with an unreleased 14-song album called Wings of Love. These songs were reportedly recorded between 1975 and 2000 for a long-planned follow-up to Inspiration Information.

Amazon points to April 16 as the release date, and the listing puts this down as a CD release.

Otis has a number of North American tour dates planned, most of them in April. This includes a Toronto stop on April 14. See the schedule below.
