Shonen Knife to Deliver New Album and DVD, Play Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto on North American Tour

BY Jason SchreursPublished Jul 9, 2010

It's been less than a year since their last album, Super Group, but Japanese trio Shonen Knife are back with a new album, and a North American tour to go with it. The new record, entitled Free Time, has already been released in Japan and is more of the Knife's patented pop rock with endearing broken English lyrics.

The album, which will include two TBA bonus tracks, is being released August 31 in North America on Good Charamel Records, who also released 2009's Super Group. Japanese comedians the 50 Kaitenz join the band for guest vocals on the record.

In addition to the release of Free Time, Good Charamel is planning a Shonen Knife DVD for later this month. The DVD is entitled Shonen Knife - Live at the Mohawk.

The trio's North America tour starts on the West coast in early September and makes its way out east by October. Canadian dates are Vancouver (September 9), Montreal (September 30) and Toronto (October 1). A full itinerary is listed below.

As the band says in their press release, "very very active Shonen Knife!!!"
