Soul star Sharon Jones is the subject of the new music doc Miss Sharon Jones!, a film directed by Barbara Kopple that follows the Dap-Kings leader's 2013 battle with cancer and her return to the stage for 2014's Give the People What They Want. The film is about to see its opening run, and in conjunction with the premiere, the movie's soundtrack has also now been announced.
Miss Sharon Jones! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is due out August 19 via Daptone Records.
As you'll see from the tracklist below, the soundtrack features an array of songs from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, ranging from early singles to tracks off Give the People What They Want. A press release explains: "Much like the film, the soundtrack gives you an intimate, candid look into the life of a woman who refuses to be defined by the challenges she faces — the perfect accompaniment to a truly extraordinary film."
Along with all the classic tracks, the soundtrack also includes the new exclusive song "I'm Still Here," which you can now listen to at the bottom of the page.
