Selfoss

"Aurelia"

Toronto three-piece synth-pop unit Selfoss are ready to unveil a new track titled "Aurelia," and Exclaim! has got your first listen to it.

Marking just the third song that the band have recorded together, it's a polished piece of glittery shoegaze-pop gold. Infectious '80s-tinged synth runs are bolstered by hypnotic vocals that are sure to stick in your head after just one listen.

"While we are usually inspired by more alternative, post-punk and shoegaze music, this song started as almost a parody of common pop songs," the band explained in a statement. "Very repetitive, the recognizable synth hook, unoriginal lyrics. But then we played it more often and put a bit of our own spin on it to make it more interesting, while also incorporating our secret love for Eurodance."

Now a favourite during their live sets, "Aurelia" will be getting released as a single, with a video to follow next month. Before then, though, you can catch the trio live in their hometown at Smiling Buddha on September 21.
