Scott Aukerman and Adam Scott Quit Their RHCP Podcast After Only One Episode

'R U Talkin' RHCP RE: Me?' has switched to 'U Talkin' Talking Heads to My Talking Head?'

Scott Aukerman and Adam Scott recently launched their Red Hot Chili Peppers podcast R U Talkin' RHCP RE: Me? as a sequel to their successful prior endeavours U Talkin' U2 to Me? and R U Talkin' R.E.M. Re: Me?

Their plan was to go through the full Chili Peppers catalogue album by album, but now they've had a change of heart and transformed into a Talking Heads podcast after only one episode.

This is the kind of thing that the two Scotts might do as a joke, since they're known for getting wildly off-topic; in the first episode of R U Talkin' RHCP RE: Me?, for example, there was a whole podcast-within-a-podcast about Keane. But, as Brooklyn Vegan points out, this change in direction is seemingly sincere: the episode that came out today was supposed to be about RHCP's 1987 album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, but instead the episode is titled "77."

From the opening moments, "77" is nearly entirely about Talking Heads' debut album, and they now seem to be calling the podcast U Talkin' Talking Heads to My Talking Head? At the end of the episode, Adam Scott says, "Maybe next week we'll change it to something else, but I think we should see this one through."

For anyone disappointed that the Scotts won't be taking a deep dive into RHCP's discography, be sure to read Exclaim!'s Essential Guide to Red Hot Chili Peppers, in which we rank their best (and worst) albums.
