Evidently, the plans to rescue SappyFest from its financial troubles have been met with great success. While the future of the Maritime music festival had been called into doubt when it went into debt last year, it will be returning as usual for another annual instalment this summer. SappyFest 9 runs from August 1 to 3 in Sackville, NB.
The festival had already been confirmed thanks to Constantines' reunion schedule, as well as word that Shotgun & Jaybird — featuring Shotgun Jimmie and Frederick Squire — had reformed to help the fest as well.
But besides Constantines and Shotgun & Jaybird, the lineup includes Julie Doiron, Basia Bulat, PS I Love You, Cousins, Ought, Rae Spoon, Bry Webb (playing a solo set in addition to his Constantines gig), Michael Feuerstack, Dusted, Cool, Nick Ferrio, the Olympic Symphonium, Spencer Burton, the Weather Station, Wet Denim, Freelove Fenner, Banded Stilts and more.
This year's slogan is "Bring It on Home."
Early bird tickets are already gone, but standard weekend passes can be purchased from Ticketpro for $89.25, or from the SappyFest office on the second floor 131 Main Street in Sackville, NB.
