Rebecca Foon's Saltland Returns with Sophomore Constellation LP 'A Common Truth'

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jan 26, 2017

Three years on from her debut I Thought It Was Us but It Was All of Us, cellist and composer Rebecca Foon has detailed a sophomore follow-up as Saltland. Titled A Common Truth, the new record will arrive at the end of March through Constellation.

Nine tracks in length, A Common Truth was recorded by Jace Lasek (Besnard Lakes) and is said to be "an aural engagement with climate change and the multiple and complex  emotional, social and political resonances it solicits."

With the cello serving as the record's primary instrument, Foon's playing is said to be impacted by "her own dedicated work as a member of Sustainability Solutions Group cooperative, as founder of the conservation charity Junglekeepers, and as co-founder of Pathway to Paris."

A press release also reveals that Foon's lone collaborator on the record is Warren Ellis (Nick Cave, The Dirty Three), who contributes violin, pump organ and loops to four instrumental tracks.

A Common Truth will surface on March 31, with pre-orders available through the label now. Read through the tracklisting to hear "I Only Wish This for You" in the player below.
