Sacred Bones Preps LPs by Chilean Bands the Holydrug Couple and Föllakzoid

Sacred Bones Records is based out of Brooklyn and many of its notable signings are American (Zola Jesus, the Men, Crystal Stilts, etc.), but the respected indie label has turned its focus to the southern hemisphere for its latest releases. Both the Holydrug Couple and Föllakzoid hail from Santiago, Chile, and they each have an album coming out on January 22.

The Holydrug Couple's Noctuary is the follow-up to 2011's Ancient Land EP, which also came out on Sacred Bones. The duo of Ives Sepúlveda and Manuel Parra self-recored the disc at their home studio, with production being handled by Sepúlveda. He reportedly worked on the album for four months and rarely left the house during the process.

The album apparently boasts a dreamy, cerebral sound. A press release explains, "Noctuary plays out like a slow motion '60s beach party dream that you never want to wake from." It will be available on CD and LP, and the band will promote it with a U.S. tour in February and March of this year.

As for Föllakzoid, their album II is the follow-up to their self-titled EP, which Sacred Bones released in 2011. According to an announcement, this krautrocking album "shows the band growing an enormous amount as songwriters, focusing on more developed songs and structures." What's more, the band "believe that there is some sort of gravitational force that makes South America able to dialogue directly with other places, times, and dimensions," and the album takes listeners on a journey to their land.

Like the Holydrug Couple, they plan to tour the U.S. in the coming months. The album will be available on CD and LP.
