Ryan Adams Treats 'Heartbreaker' to Deluxe Box Set

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 15, 2016

In between his tweets about cats and outer space, prolific singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has been hinting that something special was in the works for his 2000 debut album Heartbreaker. Now, he's revealed that the record will be getting the deluxe box set treatment this spring.

Last year, Adams reissued the record in standard CD and vinyl formats, but the upcoming package should give fans a lot more to get excited about. It will arrive on May 6 through PAX-AM.

In addition to the original 15-song remastered album, the upcoming four-LP, one-DVD (or two-CD, one-DVD) collection will include a selection of demos and unreleased outtakes. The DVD contains previously unreleased footage from a solo acoustic show at New York's Mercury Lounge from October 2000 — which included Adams' first performance of his later recorded "Wonderwall" cover.

The set also comes with a booklet of rare photos with liner notes written by Adams' longtime friend, collaborator and producer Ethan Johns.

Heartbreaker was originally released in 2000. It was recorded at Woodland Studios in Nashville and features contributions from Johns, Dave Rawlings, Gillian Welch, Pat Sansone, Emmylou Harris, Kim Richey and Alison Pierce.

Below, find the detailed tracklisting, as well as a trailer for the upcoming release. Beyond that, you can also listen to a just-shared outtake titled "Locked Away."
