Ryan Adams has shown he isn't averse to confronting his own hecklers, but as Stereogum reports, the songwriter stepped into such a role with some choice words for alt-J during a performance in Portugal last night (July 6).

Both Adams and the UK indie rockers were in country as part of the NOS Alive Festival, with Adams taking the stage after alt-J had performed hours earlier.

"We're sorry about alt-J," he reportedly told the audience. "It's like a mosquito bite — if you ignore it, it'll go away. I'm just kidding. I love Nickelodeon. It's a great channel."

In closing the set, Adams also reportedly told the audience, "I'm sorry our president's a fucking moron, we love you!"

Adams released Prisoner earlier this year, while alt-J delivered Relaxer last month, though they might not be as relaxed anymore.
