It's February, and you've just gotten used to writing "2017" — now let us help you on your way to penciling some more concert dates into that busy calendar of yours. We've compiled a list of this week's noteworthy shows across Canada, so let this edition of Can't Miss Concerts be your guide.

From Hamilton rock stars the Arkells to Julie Doiron & the Wrong Guys to Sam Roberts Band, Canadian artists are dominating the stage this week, from February 2 to 8, but if nothing here tickles your fancy, head to our Concert Listings for a comprehensive list of shows hitting Canada this week.

The Arkells

Hamilton sweethearts the Arkells have been dominating the airwaves with tracks off 2016's Morning Report since its release. The band's tendency to cover Motown and rock classics live has gained the Hamiltonians a reputation for charismatic, influence-honouring live shows that feel as timeless as the songs they're covering. The Canadian leg of their tour begins this week, where they'll be supported by opening act Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls, a band known for playing a brouhaha of a show.

Doiron released 7-inch single Homeless this past December, and now fans have a chance to catch the charming songstress play it at one of three dates out west this week.

Megaphono Festival

Every year, Megaphono Festival presents a multitude of music-related entertainment and music industry learning opportunities. Taking place at various venues across the city, this three day-long festival celebrates its Ottawa roots by offering a substantial lineup of local acts you won't want to miss. Ottawa-born New Swears — who you might have caught at their rip-roaring rock show at our Class of 2017 show last month — will be taking the stage on the Thursday (February 2). She-Devils, Blakdenim, Pony Girl and many more will also perform this weekend.

Sam Roberts Band

Recently, Sam Roberts Band have been on tour in support of their sixth studio album Terraform, unveiled this past October on Paper Bag Records. Run the Jewels

With a tour name like "Run the World," one is allowed to have high expectations for a killer stage presence. And that's exactly what Run the Jewels have: Atlanta-born rapper Killer Mike and Brooklyn producer/rapper El-P are known to bring plenty of vigour. The hip-hop powerhouse duo's latest — their "bloody," "urgent," "enraged" and "heartening" Run the Jewels 3 is a record you do not want to miss experiencing live. No helmets allowed in the moshpit, though.
