The Royal Oui

"True" (video)

Vancouver folk sweethearts the Royal Oui will release their self-titled album on February 11 through File Under: Music. As the duo count down the days until its release, they have shared a video for "True."

The clip was directed by Austin Muirhead. It captures the rustic, rootsy feel of the soft acoustic tune by showing the husband and wife pair of Adrienne Pierce and Ari Shine out in nature with their guitars. Luckily they're wearing rubber boots so they don't get wet when they strum along in the river.

Apparently, the video's dreamy '70s aesthetic was inspired by Norway indie pop band Team Me's video for "Dear Sister," with Royal Oui capturing the places the band like to hike with their dog on Vancouver's North Shore

"We thought that the images of the river and the lush forest juxtaposed with urban bridges and an abandoned Boy Scout camp covered in graffiti, provided the perfect backdrop for this song," explained Ari in a statement.
