River & Sky Music/Camping Festival has announced its first wave of artists playing at its 17th year. Set on the banks of Sturgeon River in Fields, ON, at Fishers' Paradise, the festival will be running from July 23 to 27.

Headliner Descartes a Kant will kick off the festivities on Thursday night (July 23), followed by Mohawk DJ and music producer Shub a day later, who is joined by Tia Wood and Casper Skulls on the bill. Calgary-based post-punk outfit Preoccupations will headline Saturday (July 26) alongside DijahSB and Bibi Club, and Toronto's By Divine Right will hit the festival main stage on Sunday (July 27). Emerging Northern Ontario artists Thea May and Fauxclis will also perform at River & Sky this year.

More than 40 acts will perform over the five-day festival, and a second wave of artists will be shared in the coming weeks.

"River & Sky'ers have come to expect the unexpected — a mix of beloved bands and emerging ones they might not know, but will be blown away by," shared festival Communications Lead Lara Bradley in a release. "There's lots to love in this diverse first wave of artists including powerful Indigenous voices. We can't wait to share the rest of the lineup soon, too."

In addition to live music, there are also camping and workshop opportunities available at the festival. Advance tickets for River & Sky are available to purchase now.
