Ridiculously prolific UK musician Richard Youngs is once again heading off into uncharted territories, having announced an apparently country-flavoured full-length called Summer in My Mind. The record will be his first LP for Ba Da Bing, and it hits retailers September 3.
A press release notes that the set aims for "the heart of American music," with the country-flecked sessions marked by Youngs' "slide-guitar, heartfelt vocals, [and] dark lyricism."
Parts of the project began taking shape years ago, as it's apparently pulled from a short story Youngs wrote as a child about "bad people and dark spirits," but the record also includes lyrics penned by his six-year-old son. Simon Joyner also contributes vocals to "Story of Jhon."
A tracklisting has yet to pop up, but you can stream the laid-back, strummy title track down below.
