Reuben and the Dark Reveal Arts & Crafts Debut 'Funeral Sky'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 4, 2014

After signing to Arts & Crafts last spring, Calgary indie-folk ensemble Reuben and the Dark have announced their forthcoming full-length debut, Funeral Sky.

The album hits stores May 27, and a press release asserts that the 11-song set zooms in on "gorgeous harmonies" and "soaring anthems of transcendence." Lyrically, the album is said to draw from frontman Reuben Bullock's religious upbringing. The musician is the son of a preacher, and both he and drummer/brother Distance Bullock rebelled against the spiritual world, with the experience apparently figuring into the song cycle.

The album was produced by Florence + The Machine drummer Chris Hayden and Stephen Kozmeniuk (Madonna, Nicki Minaj), and mixed by Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys). Already previewed was the album's "Shoulderblade," and now the band have let loose a video for the set's "Rolling Stone." You can check out the all-night-drive-styled visuals for the banjo-flaunting track beneath Funeral Sky's tracklisting.

As previously reported, Reuben and the Dark will be teaming up with labelmates the Darcys and NO for a spring tour. You'll find all the show specifics for the North American trip below as well.
