In an appearance on Ziwe last Thursday (June 12), singer and Mean Girls actor Reneé Rapp weighed in on news of Tory Lanez's stabbing in prison.
"| feel like a lot of people get stabbed and that's okay," Rapp stated after being asked how she felt about Lanez being attacked in prison. "Maybe we should be doing it more. Maybe we should be stabbing more. Shiv in the pocket."
Incarcerated Brampton rapper Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020. The rapper was stabbed 14 times by a fellow inmate of Tehachapi, CA's California Correctional Institution back in May. The assailant, Santino Casino, has since claimed self-defence. Lanez suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been transferred to a different correctional facility.
Rapp previously collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on the single "Not My Fault" from the Mean Girls soundtrack. Rapp portrayed Regina George in the 2024 film.
"I am a true Meg supporter. And I hate that other man," Rapp had previously stated. "So, I love Megan Thee Stallion. I love her. And if anybody tries her, when it comes to that sorry ass man, it's a do-or-die fight for me."
The singer also commented on the news that Drake backed a Change.org petition to "free Tory Lanez": "That's so tired. I love Kendrick Lamar."
Rapp, as well as SZA [per NME], is among several artists to speak out in support of Megan Thee Stallion.
