The Reckoners

'Suit Don't Fit' (album stream)

It's taken close to five years to get there, but BC duo folk duo the Reckoners have finally followed up their 2010 offering, ...And the Sky Opened Up. The latest LP they're dropping on us is called Suit Don't Fit, and you can try it on for size via a full-album audio stream.

Steered by the deeply entwined duets of Ricardo Khayatte and Christina Simpson, the nine-song offering flirts with dust-kicking alt-country. Opener "Broken Bottle" cuts to the bone with its sorrowful six-strings, percussive banjo plucking and a harmonious, if heartbroken refrain of "I don't want to let you down." The title track, meanwhile, bumps up the good vibes with chicken-pickin' licks and a brushed snare bounce.

In addition to the Reckoners proper, the album features contributions from guitarist Scott Smith (Just A Season), bassist Jeremy Holmes (Bocephus King), and drummer John Raham (Be Good Tanyas). You can sample all of the set down below, or pick it up on Bandcamp.
