Red Bull Music Academy has been exploring videogame music with the five-part documentary series Diggin' in the Carts, and now the series has rolled out its next episode.
This 16-minute instalment is called "The Role of Role Play," and as the title indicates, it examines RPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Contributors like Flying Lotus, Anamanaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu discuss how these RPGs brought classical-style composition to gaming. We see how these scores evolved from 8-bit symphonies to full orchestras.
