Arboretum Arts Festival
Showcasing Ottawa's current cultural renaissance, Arboretum Arts Festival organizers have nabbed the Canadian music scene's best and brightest for the second installment of the two-day festival, with performances from the likes of Doldrums, Sarah Neufeld, Holy Fuck and Owen Pallett. But just in case you get hungry, Arboretum will also be hosting "Chef Sessions," in which gourmet foodies can sample goods from some of the city's best chefs.

Hall & Oates
Yacht-rocking R&B crooners Daryl Hall & John Oates (or, more simply, Hall & Oates) play a one-off stop at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre as part of their current North American tour. It's business as usual for the lady-killing duo, so expect them to turn out the hits.
8/15 Vancouver, BC - Queen Elizabeth Theatre
It's only been three years since the birth of minimalist-electro project Majical Cloudz, but during that time the duo comprising singer Devon Welsh and producer Matthew Otto have gained shout-outs from Grimes and nominations from the Polaris Music Prize. Watch the Impersonator songwriters do their thing during the final two Canadian dates on their current North American tour before they head south for the rest of the summer.

8/19 Vancouver, BC - Electric Owl
Genre-hopping singer-songwriter Maylee Todd brings Escapology to Toronto for a one-of-a-kind performance as part of the Summerworks Festival series. Simply titled "Maylee Todd's Musical Planetarium," the night will see The Great Hall transformed live before your eyes into a kaleidoscope of technicolour projections synced up to the artist's latest LP. Just don't forget to bring your beach blanket.
8/17 Toronto, ON - The Great Hall
Golden age hip-hop veteran Rakim travels north of the border for a one-off stop at Toronto's Sound Academy. Catch the well-regarded MC spit verses from across his nearly three-decade-long career and listen for tracks off his upcoming untitled full-length, produced by Pharrell Williams.
8/21 Toronto, ON - Sound Academy
Located on the banks of the Grand River, Riverfest Elora promises to bring big city fun to Ontario's small-town arts haven. For its 2013 incarnation, the modest music festival will be playing host to a variety of Canadian acts, including Cape Breton fiddler Ashley MacIsaac, globetrotting party-starter Rich Aucoin and Toronto-based indie-rockers Born Ruffians, who are playing one of their final Canadian stops before their upcoming European tour.
8/17 Elora, ON - Bissell Park
Kansas City royalty Tech N9ne brings his fast-spitting rhymes to Canada for a smattering of dates in support of his critically-acclaimed Something Else LP. Arrive early to catch touring partner Krizz Kaliko, and keep your ears peeled for a performance of album standout "Strange 2013," which was recorded with the remaining members of the Doors back in 2012.
